Bob loves his business. His passion for burgers is unmatched, which leaves him overworked. His ability to recognize that work has taken over his whole life is poor. Season 9, Episode 16 has one of the best depictions of Bob experiencing a poor work-life balance. I apologize if there are others; this one comes to mind instantly.
The episode starts with Bob being aloof and acting weirdly. Linda recognizes this is a sign that Bob is about to be useless at work, so she forces him to take the day off. Bob HATES that he is locked out of his restaurant and eventually gives up knocking on all possible entries to the restaurant. Bob starts to meander and ends up at a sandwich shop. He notices the shop is busy and offers to help the owner bus tables and make sandwiches. Bob cannot help himself... he starts working at another restaurant because he does not know how to relax.
SPOILER ALERT: Bob eventually realizes that Linda is right, and he has an addiction to working (poor work-life balance). He works for free and out of pure thrill at that sandwich shop. The best AH HA moment is when the sandwich shop owner tells Bob that she does not want to be like Bob. Missing out on life and not engaging in activities he loves because his whole focus is on the restaurant. If this episode resonates on a deeper level... you may struggle with poor work-life balance.
