Ann Perkins' Box of Past Relationships: Attachment Issue or Trouble Advocating?

Ann is delightful in Parks and Rec, but tends to struggle being authentic in romantic and interpersonal relationships.
Let's discuss the episode where she brings all her boxes of boyfriends' past. She acknowledges that she loses herself in relationships. She has trouble remembering she does not need to morph into whomever she dates. She even tells Chris that she hates jogging and thinks it is the worst. Ann does not present as anxious or avoidant, but she struggles to say "no".
Thinking about this more....Ann is a people-pleaser. She has a moment of yelling at Leslie for being a steamroller. Ann admits she does not even like Harry Potter and ate a whole cheesecake so Leslie wouldn't be self-conscious (if you're confused, watch Season 4, Episode 8). Back to the original plot... Ann morphs into her partners because she does not say "no" or think about her wants and needs. Ann sucks at advocating for herself. She needs to remember she matters in the relationship and can be herself, no matter the type of relationship (friendship or romantic).
So, if you have boxes that show different eras of your life and question how this happened...maybe therapy can help you figure that out. Yes, sometimes we have phases, and that is normal! Other times, we feel alone because we are not advocating and letting people see our authentic selves. I would love to work with you to help you advocate for yourself.
